1972 : Hires Loulou de la Falaise. Along with Berg茅, strikes a deal with Squibb Beech-Nut that allows them to own the Yves Saint Laurent fashion enterprise outright, in exchange for giving Squibb exclusive ownership of the perfumes, with small royalties to Berg茅 and Saint Laurent.

1970 : Starts designing and producing menswear modeled on his own wardrobe, which includes velvet and pony-skin jackets, safari suits, printed silk shirts, caftans, and chain belts.
